Renewal Fee Payment Extensions for Department of Cannabis Regulation Applicants and Licensees

On February 10, 2021, the Los Angeles City Council approved PDF iconOrdinance 186919 (the “Ordinance”) that (1) allows for a one-time late submission of 2020 and/or 2021 renewal applications and related fees, (2) establishes a process for future late renewal payments, (3) extends ten-day payment deadlines to thirty days, and (4) allows for mailed payments, among other items.  The Ordinance became effective on Wednesday, February 24, 2021.

If you are now eligible to submit a late 2020 and/or 2021 renewal application and/or make a late renewal fee payment, the Department of Cannabis Regulation (“DCR”) will attach an invoice to your record and/or update your record status. The deadline to submit a late 2020 and/or 2021 renewal application and/or make late renewal fee payments for 2020 and/or 2021 renewal applications is March 31, 2021. Therefore, commercial cannabis licensees or applicants that need to submit payment for 2020 and/or 2021 renewal fees may immediately request a payment appointment with the Office of Finance by emailing finance.csd.appt@lacity.org.

DCR is also working to revise and reissue all outstanding invoices to reflect the thirty-day payment period and mail-in payment option. DCR anticipates these invoices will be generated on or around March 1, 2021. Please check your Accela record to see if an invoice for outstanding fees has been uploaded.
