General Information

In 2016, California passed Proposition 64 – the Adult Use of Marijuana Act (AUMA) – legalizing recreational use of cannabis for adults 21 and older. The landmark legislation also reduced criminal penalties for specified marijuana-related offenses and authorized resentencing or dismissal and sealing of prior, eligible marijuana-related charges. Despite legalization, there are still specific State laws consumers and growers must follow to avoid violations and penalties

Clear Your Cannabis Record

Following the passage of Prop 64, CA Assembly Bill 1793 was adopted, thereby creating a statewide process for the automatic review of prior marijuana-related convictions that would qualify for reduced punishment or expungement. In California, all County District Attorney’s Offices were required to do so by July 1, 2020.
