This licensing renewal season, the Department of Cannabis Regulation (DCR) is offering a new and easier way to make payments just in time for the 2025 License Renewal Period. All licensing renewals must be completed by Friday, November 1, 2024, to avoid late fees. Please click here for more detail on the 2025 Licensing Renewal process.

The new and easier way to make payments for cannabis business fees is made available through the Department of Building and Safety’s (LADBS) Development Services Locations…and no appointment is necessary. There are five LADBS Development Services Locations throughout the city.

Here are some things you need to know before you go:

1. Bring three copies of the invoice with you when you are making a payment to the LADBS Development Services office.
2. Acceptable forms of payment are Checks (preferred method) and Cash (Metro - Downtown location only).
   1. Check Acceptance Policy (Dama Financial): Please note that checks issued by Dama Financial are not accepted. Dama Financial is a banking platform commonly used in the cannabis industry. These checks are pre-authorized and lack an actual signature, therefore, LADBS cannot process them because they lack access to the signature on file.
   2. Money Orders and Credit Cards are also not accepted.
3. A receipt will be provided to you.

4. You must email a copy or photo of your receipt to DCR.Payments@lacity.org or you may drop off your receipt at DCR’s office to more quickly reflect the payment to your account. Make sure to keep a copy of the receipt for your records.
